In the early 1980's Dave Flock was an Aircraft Engineer for Norcanair stationed in Uranium City. One day Dave made a trip to the South Shore Lake Athabasca  and fortunately remembered to take his camera with him. Thanks to Dave for sharing the following pictures.

The famous Athabasca Sand Dunes are a rare natural phenomenon stretching a 100 kilometers along the south shore of Lake Athabasca. The locals often refer to the area as the "South Shore"

The sand dunes situated north of the 59th latitude are well documented and several books have been published on them.

In this isolated place there are several plants struggling to exist that grow nowhere else in the world. It is a very unique and facinating place to visit.
