THE "NORMALITY PROJECT"
Hello all! … Here I am coming to you directly from downtown Leaf Rapids MB. Did any of you have any bets on me? Like how long will Mike last in "Normality"? Hey - come now … I now have a bath twice a week!! And keep the TV on 24/7 plus I did remember how to flush a toilet. Soooooooo what's up MIKE? Well ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls -- sorry I can't handle it , yes it's true; Mike can't handle a population of 450 (including cats, dogs, wolves and the occasional fox). The town is beautiful , the people on the most part are friendly, helpful and normal! So I do believe it's Mike who is out of the box. What can I say?? I scrambled myself at Thompson Lake. I recently talked to a well known Arctic retailer, Daryl Barr, who claims it takes the majority of Arctic folk two years to shuffle the cards right again after a long stint in the Arctic. I jump when the doorbell rings; a knock on the door raises my heart rate by a hundred. I mean even cars driving by my house startle me. And … I can't help but feel trapped - like prison?? So what now Mike? Well I'm counting the days when I can leave to go back to Thompson Lake - APRIL FIRST! (and it isn't an April Fools joke!!) Can I duplicate a Thompson here? Perhaps … but it would be starting over again which doesn't make any sense, does it? I have been watching the weather over Thompson / La Ronge and it appears I took the wrong winter off. I don't believe it has been past minus 20 C this year yet … the rivers are still unsafe!! Jared is here and he has his hands full with tutoring, regular teaching, computer classes, computer repair for the school / town centre plus the usually dribble of private personnel repair. No, I'm not sorry I came here… I would have never known what it's like to be warm, shop everyday, go nuts on EBay, check my mail continuously, pay a power bill ! And check the fridge!!. Now for the bad bad news … the widows are all taken!! -- So off I go to Russia. Will I move back to Thompson Lake permanently? … Where else? In conclusion … (WITH GREAT REGRET ) … Mike has failed the "Normality Project". Michael … Leaf Rapids Jan 12, 2006 P.S. I will shortly be putting together a black bear article entitled "To Save a Life" ….as many of you know I have been in touch with some serious bear people in the last few years so I will try condense all our correspondence into the above chapter. This article should have some interesting literature for all of us - campers, fishermen, trappers, hunters, R.C.M.P., Resource Officers, hikers etc. etc. See you then … AND WITH THE DEEPEST REGRET I have to inform you all … God Save my Soul! … May I not fry in Hell … may the prophets … (I believe you get the picture!!) … I have been backed into a corner and there is no way out… there is an evil cloud over Ottawa … NEVER in my wildest dreams did I think I would vote for Brother Love and his Traveling Salvation Show … But guess what? I have no choice … to get votes from the urban personnel - the present government will take away collectors guns (sorry Paul Martin, you have gone too far this time) and I'm assuming the majority of "liberal" and "socialist" gun owners feel the same. So good-bye Paul … it was nice while it lasted - wasn't it? Over and out.
